DIARY ENTRIES - TITANIC OR HATCHET

PERCENTAGE OF YEARLY MARK: 20%

TASK: You are to write a series of diary entries based on the text that you have studied (for example, Titanic, Hatchet). Your diary is to contain an entry from:

a) The first day of your journey

b) 2 entries from the middle of your survival experience

c) 1 entry after you have been rescued and sent back to civilisation.

MARKING CRITERIA:

You will be marked on the following criteria:

a) Use of diary text type: Ensure each diary entry is dated and includes details of times, places and events.

b) Language: Language must be personal and should use a friendly or conversational tone. The language should be first person, eg: "I am sitting in my stateroom..."

c) Voice: Demonstrates personality of the author as well as age, class and background should be clear for the diary entry.

d) Creativity: Must use descriptive and imaginative language, correct use of punctuation, and correct sentence and paragraph construction.

THE ASSESSMENT WILL BE COMPLETED IN CLASS ON A WORKSHEET SUPPLIED BY YOUR TEACHER.
